• Question: do you not find your work boring?:D

      No way! My work is so exciting… just think, what is more exciting than studying cells and nanoparticles in a petri-dish?! Why, studying the PEOPLE who create and think about these things! In the study of science communications, I not only get to discover new science on a daily basis, I get to talk to the creators of these scientific discoveries, and I get to try and understand how the general public understands and interprets the science created and studied by scientists!

      No. I really enjoy my job. I have the odd day where it is quiet and I do maybe get a little bored then, but there is always plenty of little things to do to pass the time.

    THere are the odd bits that can be pretty boring, for example, sometimes when I’m doing amperometry (electrical chemical measuring) I have to watch this little red line appear on my screen for 10 minutes at a time, and it’s not a very exciting red line….

    However, you make the most of the dull times, if if wasn;t for the data analysis we’d never know if any of the experiements worked! Sometimes as well, it’s pretty exciting to see the numbers you’d hope to start appearing pop up on your screen, you’re like, ‘OMG. It’s happening. IT’S REALLY HAPPENING!!!’
    Then you get a bit excited and have to make sure that the result is reproducible.
    And if it’s not, it’s really gutting. 🙁
