I don’t directly save people’s lives, but I hope through teaching people about science and the need to preserve our environment, I will be helping to keep our Earth a safer and more life-friendly place! Science communications, I think, can help save lives.

As a first aider, the theory is that I could save someone’s life!! haha.

However I’m like Paige, the work I do dosn’t directly save lives, however it does do thinks like advices people about their diets, help companies make better sunscreens and help us find ways to treat genetic diseases so I hope, somewhere down the line, I’ve helped save someones life 🙂

The work I do can help save peoples lives, although I don’t directly. Some of the results we give could be acted on by the Doctors looking after the patients, which could save their life.

For example, there is a flesh eating infection (necrotising fascitis) which can be fatal and can happen quite quick. Often the only way to save the patient is to remove the infected tissue, so we might get a sample from past where they think the infection is. We would then look at it under the microscope to see if they got all the infection out, or if they need to do more.
