Sometimes there are people that you just don’t get along with despite your hardest efforts – just like another job. Because science is very competitive and personal sometimes it can be a bit political, and you have to just man up and get through the day.
THe huge majority of the time though everything is awesome. I’m very lucky to be in a group with a professor who is very open to his researchers being involved with new experiences and projects, as well as being surrounded by lovely people. Who bring in cake all the time.
I can’t think of any bad experiences really, although I do hate it when the machines breakdown and delay the work. I was working with one machine a few months ago. It was broke for nearly a week in the end. I tried everything I could to get it back up and running but it just didn’t want to work.
I have the odd bad day where everything and everyone seems to drive me mad, but don’t we all. Generally though, it is all good and I work with a great bunch of people, so most of us get on well.
I had only one bad experience, but that was more because of my bosses not being very nice. But then I got a better job, my bosses are awesome, and they think I do a great job!!!!
Yes, I have done many things which have ended up with me hurting myself in someway. However, the worst feeling in the world is to be beaten by another group to do something.
