      Hello SuperstarAmy!

I love being a scientist very much. I love how I get to come into my lab and every day I have the chance to do something that maybe noone else i nthe world has ever done before (not that it always works…) I love being able to work with some of the most interesting people I have ever met, I love that the research I do links in with other researchers all over the world. I love that there is always tea and coffee on tap. 🙂

Hi. Personally I love being a scientist. I really enjoy my job, most days at least. It helps that I work with some great people too. I love that it is a practical based job. The best bit for me is when we get something different in, either a sample which we don’t get very often or an organism grow which doesn’t do what the textbook says it should. These are the times I get to use my knowledge and feel it made an impact.

Hi, Being a scientist is great fun. We get to travel all over the world to do our experiments and show people our results and make some great friends. At the moment I’ in Sweden using a big machine called a synchrotron where they whizz electrons around at nearly the speed of light. One of the best things though is tat you are always doing something new and that only a few other people in the world are doing. I also like to think that our research is useful, not immediately necessarily, but it might lead to cheaper energy or new materials we can use in medicine for example.

I really like being a scientist. The best bits are travelling to new places to meet other scientist and learning from them. Being a scientist is more about interacting with people than you would think, we all know our little bits of science but until we work together we can’t see how they fit together and what problems we can solve. I should also say that everyday is different and I never know what i’m going to be doing from day to day.

      I LOVE being a scientist!!!!!!

I think that BEST thing about my job is talking to other really smart scientists and being able to translate their work into creative stories, like this story I wrote about hurricane research today! http://www.lsu.edu/departments/gold/2012/06/storm_surge_research.shtml

I love discovering new things that nobody has discovered before, like gold nanocages that can be used for drug delivery and radioactive cancer therapy.
