There are a number of ways to improve your metabolism – right now I’m using an eating and excercise regime to help me lose some weight whilst maintaining strength and muscle mass. I was getting a bit podgy…too much ice cream…Raising and maintaining a high metabolism is an important part of it.

One of the best tried and true methods of boosting your metabolism is to take some heart pounding exercise first thing in the morning and then eat a healthy really nutrient dense breakfast. By doing the exercise first thing, you bring your heart rate up, improve your circulation and make your muscles turn over glycogen (stored carbohydrate like sugar) stored in them from the day before. Once you’ve raised your activity level like this in the morning, your body finds it easier to keep it’s metabolism in a higher readier state all day, making it more efficient at turning over energy and easier to step up a gear if you need a burst of energy to get some work done during the day.

There are other methods too, but this by far is one of the healthiest, least damaging in the long run methods going. Exercise at any time of day will keep your metabolism boosted! Morning work outs have the added benefit of making your brain release a load of endorphins in response to the exercise first thing so you’re putting yourself in the frame of mind to have a good day! 🙂

      Good question!

Working out and diet and improve your metabolism! Did you know that eating right after you workout is a very good thing, because you metabolism is higher at that time!

Doing weight lifting is actually better to increase your metabolism that cardio workouts, because just having more muscle in your body makes your body metabolize faster and burn fat even when you are at rest!!

Eating healthy is also a great way to boost your metabolism. I’ve heard that eating cinnamon and chili peppers can increase your body’s metabolism! http://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-boost-your-metabolism

You can increase it by eating small frequent meals and healthy snacks, particularly anything with a high volume to calorie content. Also ensuring you drink enough water. Having it ice cold can help too, as the body works to maintain the temperature of the body, burning more calories. Aerobic exercise boosts the metabolism, the aim is to increase the heart rate.
