• Question: what are your faviourte things about trains?

      I like the way a train sounds when it is moving down the tracks! The train was a great revolution in transportation… in the early days we wouldn’t have been able to transport anything large without trains!

      I like it when the train comes out of the clock in Back to the Future!
      (BTW, Tuesday was the day that Marty McFly came back to in the future- just so you know)

      George Stephenson, the guy who built the first railway, was from near where I live in Newcastle. He was from a place called Wylam. There’s loads of really cool old locomotives up in Newcastle – you should visit if you like trains!

      Whenever I travel by train I become a total convert and decide that I would love to travel more using them. I can’t get the train to work, but I wish I could. I could get so much done on my way to work, or read a book, just relax. And they are so much more comfortable and relaxing than buses. I love it when they run on time.

      With electric trains I like the fact you can hear the sound coming down the wires before it comes through the air because sound travels faster through solid objects than air. I also like getting the train to work everyday. It gives me chance to relax, unlike when I used to drive in, and read through student’s works and scientific papers.
