Hmm… that is hard to say! All different aspects of science are important… we need things like physics as much as biology, chemistry as much as material science.

Perhaps the MOST important aspect of science is the scientific method – following a regular method and pathway from observations to hypothesis to testing and re-formulation of hypotheses. Without a scientific method, scientists would just be stumbling around in the dark with their experiments! A method is just as important as the results, or actually perhaps more important, in scientific discovery!

I think one on the most important ascept of science is honesty – to often there are cases where information is withheld or omitted by research groups to try and keep their methods a secret, however more often than not when something is missing, it’s because the data the scientists are presenting isn’t water tight and is a bit wobbly on fact. This is when things start to get dangerous.

Honesty and checking your work 3 times over to make sure that what you’re seeing is definitely a valid observation. Like Paige mentioned, it’s all part of the scientific method.

I think always asking questions and never asuming things without really thinking about it.

SJ and Ash both make great points. I think accuracy is vital and it sort of encompasses both of these points too. If the work is accurate it means the results are right and if the right up is accurate it truly reflects what was found
